Using our Light

There are 3 commandments in Judaism to light lights. The Shabbat candles, the Havdalah candle and the Hanukkah candles.
Shabbat candles represent Judaism’s inner light, the joy we experience when our lives are enriched by Torah and Mitzvot… tradition and deeds. Hanukkah candles are the light Judaism brings to the world when we live by our principles and stand up for justice and freedom.
The Havdalah candle, which is always made up of several wicks woven together, represents the fusion of the two, the light of our personal inspiration joined with our conduct and actions that bring goodness and hope into the world. May we all help to light up the world around us.
